Mother's Day Poem "Lullaby"

Lullaby, rockabye, you sang me to sleep

And crept out of my room without making a peep

Lullaby rockabye you held me so close

When I scraped up my knee or bumped my nose

Lullaby, rockabye, you held my hand

And carried me on when I couldn’t stand

Lullaby, rockabye you wiped my tears

And helped me get over my biggest fears

Thank you for teaching me in all that you do

When I grow up I want to be just like you

A Special Birthday Surprise

Along with the new look of Event Lucky (have you checked out the new design?), I am changing the direction slightly. I want to highlight special, thoughtful moments as much as the larger parties and events. You've probably noticed these quieter moments creeping in-- because those times can be just as memorable as that big party. It's about celebrating every day (just like the tagline says), and that means everything from announcements to gifts, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and everything in between. I love the thoughtful, creative ways that we make every day special-- and I'd love to see the ways you do that at home. So feel free to send in your submissions-- from the notes you put in your kids backpack, to his grand birthday party-- send it in!

I love the way Holly from Nothing But Bonfires celebrated her father's 60th birthday. She sent a note to friends and family (you can read ithere) asking them to send memories of her dad. They could send more than one if they wanted, it just had to be on separate pieces of paper. Here's how it looked:

I love the adorable airmail envelopes she used. They look so cute. Oh-- you want to know how he reacted? Well, these pictures tell it all.

It's safe to say he loved it.

Make Some Butter and Break Some Ice

I mentioned my friend Liza, who likes to make everything from scratch, including her own butter. So when I saw this idea of having your guests help make the butter, I thought it was a great way to get them involved with her cause.

Just put some cream, salt and marbles in a jar and pass it around. Everyone can participate in shaking the jar, passing the burden around and getting to know each other. Then everyone gets to enjoy the freshly made butter (hopefully with some freshly made bread!).

I love it!
