János Gábor Varga conveys a sense of power through his jewelry, referring to them as amulets. The man who has travelled and lived in various European cities still finds inspiration from his childhood memories of the Hungarian countryside.
Now settled in a small village in the mountains near Genoa, Italy, János hones his craft of forging metal into strong bold elements that are geometric, modern and also carry a medieval rawness and simplicity.
János works mostly in iron with 18k yellow gold accents. He uses square tubing or T stock and saws away the unnecessary parts like a sculptor, while bending the remaining material into place. His approach takes experimentation and a vision of the process not just the final product. More power to you.
