LEED-ing in the Right Direction

Super

As the green movement becomes more prevalent, the US Green Building Council's (USGBC) role in encouraging environmentally sound projects is blossoming.  The USGBC is a non-profit organization that promotes environmentally responsible and healthy places to live and work.

The USGBC developed the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System.  It is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings.  LEED is based on well-founded scientific standards and takes a "whole building" approach to sustainability.   This means that no one product can be LEED Certified.  Certification can only be granted to an entire building or interior.

Projects accrue credits toward certification by using strategies in building such as sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, sound materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.   2Modern.com offers products that can contribute toward credits for your LEED building and/or interior.  For example,  in a commercial interior project, Emeco contributes at least 20% recycled content (Credit #4.2 on the LEED - CI Registered Project Checklist) for it's recycled aluminum.

Thank you to the USGBC for providing the incentive and steering us in the right direction for turning over a new, green leaf.  Together we can transform our neighborhoods and work environments into sustainable spaces of which we can be proud of.
